Spring weight restrictions for the central frost zone will end 12:01 a.m. Monday, May 4, and for the north-central frost zone at 12:01 a.m. May 8.

The central frost zone is south of highways 210 and 18, and the north-central frost zone is north of highways 210 and 18 in Crow Wing County.

However, due to poor soil conditions, restrictions will remain in effect for gravel roads in the northeast portion of the county, including County Highway 36; county roads 105, 106 and 141; and Spruce Grove and Burgstaler roads.

Minnesota Statute 169.87 establishes weight restrictions. The weight on any single axle shall not exceed 5 tons on any unpaved street or highway; or 10 tons on a paved street or highway unless posted otherwise between the dates set by the transportation commissioner.

Cooperation and compliance with the legal posted limits are needed to minimize unnecessary damage to roads, according to officials.
