The 17th annual St. Francis Catholic School Foundation Dinner is set for Sept. 26 at Arrowwood Lodge in Baxter.

Keynote speaker for the event is Father Michael Schmitz, a graduate of St. Francis Catholic School. As director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Duluth as well as the chaplain for the Newman Center at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Father Mike inspires and educates through his priesthood and preaching. Known for his inspiring homilies, consistent hilarity and genuine coolness, Father Mike is quickly becoming a Catholic household name in America.

The St. Francis School band will perform during the night and two school graduates and musicians Naomi and Kristin Ringhand will provide instrumental music during the social hour. New this year is the "Get out of Purgatory" drawing. Grand prizes include a Madden's Golf Outing, Chase on the Lake Getaway Package, Vikings game tickets and a cash prize.

The St. Francis Catholic School foundation plays a key role in tuition assistance support and school technology initiatives. The foundation was also instrumental in the school expansion and improvement project completed in 2010. Last year's event raised just under $50,000. For additional information on the Foundation Dinner interested persons may contact Maria Prozinski at mprozinski@lakescatholic.org or at 822-4040. Cost per attendee is $125.
