St. Francis Catholic Church will host a Walk and Run at 9 a.m. Aug. 14 beginning at the Northland Arboretum Baxter Trailhead Parking.
The event is part of the year-long celebration of the 150th anniversary of St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. The Walk and Run will benefit the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen. Pledge sheets may be found at the church office, 404 N. Ninth St., or by calling 218-822-4040.
The event invites all levels of walkers and runners, strollers and pets and encompasses a 5-mile distance, which participants may shorten as necessary. Water, lemonade and healthy snacks will be available at the trailhead before and after the event. All participants registered by 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 30, will receive a T-shirt and a water bottle.
St. Francis and All Saints Catholic churches are grateful to partner together in continued support for the Brainerd lakes area Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen, a news release stated. The fourth Saturday of each month parishioners gather to serve the community at the soup kitchen. The churches also provide financial assistance through their “Social Concerns” collections.
The Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen’s stated mission is “to demonstrate the love of Christ by providing meals to the hungry of our community.”
