St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic School recently celebrated the success of its participation in the 2015 Minnesota Marathon for Nonpublic Education.

The school's participation in the marathon took place Oct. 3, and the students were recognized for their efforts at a school assembly Nov. 2. The top fundraising families were recognized as students were treated to an ice cream social.

Students raised more than $42,000 through the event. Preschool and elementary students rode their bikes, while middle school students participated in a 10K. An Essentia Health sponsorship provided bike helmets, T-shirts and beverages for students.
