ST. PAUL - A pedestrian is in critical condition Monday after being struck by a Green Line light-rail train at Lexington Parkway and University Parkway in St. Paul late Saturday night, according to a spokeswoman at Regions Hospital.
The man, who was identified as Shah Nafis Alexander, 23 of Minneapolis, tried to cross the tracks without the right of way was struck by the train around 10 p.m., Metro Transit spokesman Howie Padilla said.
Trains were stopped for about 30 minutes after the incident.
Metro Transit is investigating.
Since opening June 14, the only fatality on the Green Line involved a pedestrian.

On Aug. 31, a 42-year-old woman was fatally struck by a train while attempting to cross the tracks on a pedestrian walkway at the Westgate Station near University Avenue and Emerald Street. She was reportedly wearing headphones.
