STAPLES - The Staples Motley School District is hosting two community meetings at 7 p.m. Thursday of the school board's strategic planning process to develop a five-year strategic plan. Both meetings will be facilitated by professionals from the Minnesota School Board Association. Community members may attend a meeting at either the Motley School cafeteria or the Staples-Motley High School cafeteria.
"These are important meetings for us," said Mary Klamm, Staples-Motley superintendent. "We need to create a plan that will prepare our children for their futures. We are looking for all stakeholders to let us know what they value within each community and as a district.
"We also want to know areas of needed improvement. The information will be used to help us identify strategic district priorities."
The district's strategic planning process includes an online community survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2PSHR7T , community meetings, facilitator-led discussions with staff members and students and school board member discussions. It will also take into account information gathered from last year's facility study. All information collected will be compiled and analyzed by the MSBA facilitators.
This report will be used to examine and revise the school district's current beliefs, vision, mission statement, and goals/objectives. The intent is to present a comprehensive strategic plan to district staff and the school board in January.

The school board's last strategic plan was created in 2011, with minor revisions in 2012. The three outcomes of the 2012 strategic plan were to create an all-day preschool option within the district, create a comprehensive staff evaluation process, and to create a broader range of electives offered at various educational levels. All three of these outcomes have been accomplished since 2011.
