State announces judge vacancies in Brainerd-area district

ST. PAUL-The Commission on Judicial Selection announced Friday that two judgeship vacancies are occurring in Minnesota's Ninth Judicial District.

The vacancies are created upon the retirement of the Honorable Richard A. Zimmerman, effective Sept. 5, and upon an order by the Minnesota Supreme Court creating a new district court judgeship in Minnesota's Ninth Judicial District, effective July 1, a news release said.

The seat currently held by Zimmerman will be chambered at Brainerd in Crow Wing County, and the new judgeship seat will be chambered at Bemidji in Beltrami County.

The application process is now open for these vacancies.

A cover letter and resume should also be submitted with the application. Applicants should indicate in their cover letter whether they would like to be considered for Beltrami County, Crow Wing County, or both seats. Only one application is required to be considered for both seats. Application materials are due by close of business July 21. Interviews are scheduled Aug. 9 in Brainerd.
