State patrol IDs trooper, driver involved in crash

FORT RIPLEY — The Minnesota State Patrol released the names of the trooper and other driver involved in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday, June 9, in Fort Ripley.

The crash was reported at 7:11 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 371 and Crow Wing County Highway 2 in Fort Ripley Township. The 54-year-old state trooper was identified as Gregg W. Gerhartz of Baxter, who was driving a 2019 Dodge Charger west on County Highway 2. The 38-year-old Little Falls man was identified as Jeffrey R. Fink, who was driving a 2017 Ford F-150 truck north on Highway 371.

The state patrol reported the Ford struck the Charger on the driver's side. Airbags in both vehicles deployed, according to the crash report.

Fink was not injured, but Gerhartz was transported to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale for non-life-threatening injuries.
