A 73-year-old Brainerd woman was airlifted to North Memorial Health Medical Center in Robbinsdale Tuesday, June 8, following a three-vehicle crash on Highway 18 near Paul Bunyan Land, about 7 miles east of Brainerd.
A Lincoln Navigator and Chevrolet Equinox were traveling west on Highway 18 when the Navigator slowed down to stop to turn into Paul Bunyan Land in Nokay Lake Township, the Minnesota State Patrol reported. The Equinox struck the Navigator from behind and pushed it into the eastbound lane of Highway 18, where it was struck head-on by a Buick LeSabre, the crash report stated.
Geraldine K. Villnow, the driver of the Buick, was airlifted to the Robbinsdale hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Jodi A. Calkins, 57, Deerwood, the driver of the Navigator, was transported to Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby with non-life-threatening injuries. Kaitlyn B. Sanvig, 27, Crosby, also had non-life-threatening injuries, but was not transported to a hospital, the crash report indicated.
The Brainerd Fire Department responded and extricated one person from one of the vehicles.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control as the state patrol investigated the crash site.
