State patrol releases names in serious crash

The identities of those involved in a broadside crash on Highway 371 Wednesday afternoon was released by the Minnesota State Patrol Thursday.

Suffering serious injury were Irene H. Jensen, 93, of Brainerd, and Pearl M. Greenwalt, 68, of Baxter. Jensen was airlifted by North Memorial Air Care from the scene to St. Cloud Hospital, where she remained in fair condition Thursday. Greenwalt was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd by North Memorial Ambulance, where she was also listed in fair condition Thursday.

Andrew T. Jay, 25, of Brainerd, suffered a non-life-threatening injury in the crash and was not transported to the hospital.

The state patrol reported the crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the crash report, a Buick LeSabre driven by Jay was southbound on Highway 371 when a Buick Regal driven by Jensen turned from Green Gables Road to go northbound on Highway 371. The Regal was broadsided by the LeSabre. The LeSabre came to rest in the middle of the southbound lanes and the Regal went into the median ditch.

Greenwalt was a passenger in Jensen's vehicle.

The state patrol was assisted at the crash scene by the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office, the Nisswa Police Department and the Brainerd Fire Department.
