A Minnesota State Patrol trooper suffered a minor injury Friday following a two-vehicle broadside crash reported at 9:38 p.m. Friday on Highway 371 and Crow Wing County Road 115, reported the Minnesota State Patrol.
The state patrol's 2011 Ford Crown Victoria was traveling southbound on Highway 371 and a 2003 Toyota Sequoia had pulled out from County Road 115 and began traveling westbound through the intersection. The Toyota cleared the northbound lanes, continued through the crossover and proceeded through the southbound lanes. The squad car attempted to avoid the Toyota, when they collided in the westerly southbound lane of traffic on Highway 371, the state patrol reported. The vehicles separated and the squad car came to final rest facing southbound in the west ditch of Highway 371. The Toyota entered the southwest quadrant of the intersection and collided with a tree before coming to a final rest.
The trooper, Michael D. Krebs, 53, Baxter, had a minor injury and did not require further medical treatment. The driver of the Toyota, Hannah E. Munsch, 18, Nisswa, was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd for non-life-threatening injuries. She was wearing her seatbelt.
The Nisswa and Crosby police departments and the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
CORRECTION: This story has been corrected to say the Toyota cleared the northbound lanes, continued through the crossover and proceeded through the southbound lanes, not the squad car.
