A 3-year-old girl was found floating in the lake at Whipple Beach about 3 p.m. Saturday and pulled to shore.

The Baxter Police Department reported the girl, believed to be from an extended family visiting relatives in Brainerd, was awake and breathing on her own when officers arrived. A stranger discovered the child in the water and brought her to shore, Russ Wicklund, Baxter Police assistant chief reported.

The child was transported by North Memorial Ambulance to Essentia Health St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
