More than 30 professional and backyard barbecue teams will compete Saturday in downtown Brainerd as part of the Brainerd Jaycees Street Fest on 7th. Teams from across the upper Midwest will compete for more than $10,000 in cash and prizes in the Great Northern BBQ. The Cub Foods Rib Fest begins at 6 p.m. and is open to the public. For $15 people can taste ribs from more than 15 local teams.
There also will be games for the family from 1-3 p.m.; a car show from 12-2 p.m.; and live music both Friday and Saturday nights; music performances by Pop Rocks, Kings Ransom and Junk FM. There is no entrance fee to attend the Street Fest, which will be located at the intersection of Seventh Street and Front Street.
The event is organized by the Brainerd Jaycees, an organization for men and women ages 18-40, and a portion of the event proceeds will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.
