SOBIESKI - A school bus was severely damaged Friday after a collision with a Chevrolet sports utility vehicle (SUV) at the intersection of 95th Street and 110th Ave, in Swan River Township, southeast of Sobieski, reported the Morrison County Sheriff's Office.

The school bus driver, Stephen Szech, 76, and eight students who were on the bus were not injured. The driver of the SUV, Kim Czech, 49, had minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to an area clinic in Little Falls.

Deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash at 7:07 a.m. Initial investigation indicates the school bus was northbound on 110th Avenue and the SUV was eastbound on 95th Street, when the SUV failed to yield for the school bus and they collided. The school bus struck a road sign and stop sign before coming to a final rest in the ditch. The school bus is owned by Palmer Bus Company and had severe damage. The SUV was totaled.

The Morrison County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol.
