SUV strikes bicyclist on Highway 371

The SUV was crossing Highway 371, when it struck a bicyclist crossing the highway from Crow Wing County Highway 13 in Nisswa.

NISSWA — A bicyclist was injured Wednesday, June 2, after an SUV struck the bicycle while it crossed Highway 371 at the southern signalized intersection in Nisswa.

The Minnesota State Patrol was called to the crash at 4:30 p.m. A BMW X7 was in the eastbound lane of Crow Wing County Highway 77 attempting to cross the northbound lane onto Highway 371, when it struck the bicyclist who was crossing Highway 371 from Crow Wing County Highway 13.

The bicyclist, Jay M. Pederson, 25, Lake Shore, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. Pederson was wearing a helmet, the crash report stated.

The driver of the BMW, Sara R. McCabe, 39, Nisswa, was not injured.
