The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District can help landowners with woodland management plans and property tax relief options.
"We currently have funds to help landowners develop a plan for their woods of 20 acres or more, attract wildlife, and improve their property," stated Darren Mayers, district technician, in a news release. "This spring is the perfect time to think about programs that are available to private landowners for woodland management."
Mayers is the certified forest stewardship plan writer in the Brainerd SWCD office.
Funding assistance is available for a limited area, but a plan can be written for a landowner anywhere in the county at an additional cost. To sign up for this program contact Mayers at darren.mayers@crowwingswcd.org or by phone 218-828-6197.
Once a landowner has a plan, they may be eligible for tax savings and an annual land payment. For more information or assistance enrolling into this program, which can possibly lower the woodland property tax rate, contact the Crow Wing County assessor's office by phone at 218-824-1010 or via email at assessor.office@crowwing.us .
