The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) announced the tree and plant pre-orders pickup is approaching.

Those with tree and plant orders may pick them up from: 4 to 6 p.m., April 30, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 1 and 9 a.m. to noon, May 2.

"Through the tree sale, the SWCD sold over 24,000 trees and 3,000 plant plugs that will filter polluted runoff, stop erosion, and create wildlife habitat," said Melissa Barrick, SWCD district manager, in a news release. "These plants will vegetate the equivalent of 45 contiguous acres with native vegetation."

Free coffee and refreshments, courtesy of the SWCD Board of Supervisors, will be provided. Customers can also learn from area plant experts, and purchase tree cages for $25 per 25 cages. Landowners can also arrange for SWCD staff to plant plants and trees for $60 per hour. Tree planting spades are available for a $40 deposit, limited availability.

Customers should bring a copy of the customer survey/email or postcard, and cash, check, or credit card to complete their orders. All orders must be paid in full before orders are picked up.

Orders not picked up by noon May 2 will be charged $10. Early pickup is not available. All plants are native stock sourced from local nurseries with verifiable seed source. The SWCD does not guarantee survival of plants and trees. All orders are subject to the same condition that they are received from suppliers.

The deadline for pre-ordering was March 1. Contact the SWCD now or in the fall to sign-up to receive a 2016 pre-order form and information about future tree and plant sales.

The SWCD thanked the Northland Arboretum, Central Lakes College Natural Resources Club, Area Education Center students, Crow Wing County Master Gardeners, Crow Wing County, and volunteers who support the tree and plant sale program.
