For homeowners who already had their income tax return done by local Tax-Aide volunteers and only need to file a property tax return, they can make an appointment for any of the three dates. However, it is advantageous to make an appointment for July 21 because homeowner property tax returns will be prepared in advance. In some cases, Tax-Aide volunteers may need to call homeowners for additional information. Tax-Aide volunteers may call from their personal phone or from a Massachusetts number, 617-675-4444.
Homeowners should not make an appointment for July 21 if they won't answer this number or return messages since their return won't be completed. Homeowners can confirm they are speaking with a Tax-Aide volunteer by asking the volunteer to state the last four digits of the homeowner's Social Security number.
