SQUAW LAKE - One person is dead and another is in custody after a shooting in Itasca County on Sunday.
The Itasca County Sheriff's Office said Monday that it received a 911 call at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday reporting that an 18-year-old man had accidentally shot a friend, a 17-year-old male, in Squaw Lake in the western part of the county.
Deputies arrived at the scene and confirmed that the 17-year-old was dead. His body has been transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for further investigation.
The 18-year-old was taken into custody pending possible charges, the sheriff's office reported. His name, and the name of the victim, were not immediately released.
