Those famous cake doughnuts from The Center are going curbside.

The doughnuts are available for preorder through 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 29. Cost is $7 per dozen or $3.50 per half dozen. Doughnuts may be ordered online through the center’s website at or by calling The Center at 218-829-9345.

The website is set up with an online payment system. The website lets customers pick types of doughnuts from plain, sugared or frosted. And customers can pick frosting or specify what they like in an assorted package, then add the doughnuts to the cart and pay online.

There are white, chocolate and blueberry doughnuts. Frostings for the white and chocolate cake doughnuts include: sugared, maple frosting, maple frosting with nuts, white, chocolate, peanut butter, peanut butter with nuts, German chocolate, or cream cheese, or cream cheese/chocolate. The blueberry cake doughnuts can be sugared or have white frosting or cream cheese frosting.

Those paying at The Center must have the correct payment for the doughnut pickup. Customers can then call The Center when they parked in front and the doughnuts will be brought out to the curbside vehicles.

“We will be offering a way to recognize our Hometown Heroes with donuts,” The Center stated. “You are encouraged to purchase donuts, inform us they are for Hometown Heroes and we will place a note thanking them for their service on the donut box. When you deliver the donuts, individuals or groups will know that you are recognizing them. We think of the frontline workers; physicians and nurses, but there are many behind the scenes also; educators, grocery store employees, convenience store workers, facility and housekeeping staff and more!”

The Center noted its staff, board members and volunteers will be following safety guidelines while making doughnuts and are wearing both masks and gloves. No individual doughnut sales will be offered. And no one will be allowed to enter The Center to pick up doughnuts. The doughnuts will be available for preorder only.

The Center is closed until further notice because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The doughnuts will be available for pickup between 7-11 a.m. Thursday at 803 Kingwood St. in Brainerd.
