The Center is hosting a job fair 3-7 p.m. Thursday, March 29.
There will be businesses present who are seeking to hire full-time, part-time or summer employees. The job fair is geared for people age 45 and older, but is open to everyone. People targeted are those who are retired, interested in working a shorter day or are seeking a fun summer job that ends when the leaves fall.
"We all have heard, read or listened to the data that supports the numbers of aging individuals in Crow Wing County are increasing and the job market candidates cannot keep up with the demand. There is a gap that needs to be bridged. Part of the solution to bridging that gap can be the age 45 and up individuals," The Center reported in a news release. "They have the expertise, work ethic and desire to share their talents. For some, retirement has not been all they thought it would be and they are looking for something to fill the void."
This is The Center's first job fair. It came to fruition after a local resort called DeAnn Barry, the executive director of The Center, and suggested The Center do a job fair. The suggestion has evolved into six area businesses signing up to participate.
For those interested in checking out employment opportunities, attend the job fair for free. The Center doughnuts and coffee will be available.
