The Nisswa Police Dept. cited 25 people for underage drinking at a keg party and at Die Bierstube, a Nisswa bar, over the weekend. The action was supported by other agencies in a county-wide effort to curb possession and consumption of alcohol by minors.

30 years ago (1987)

Todd Revenig was named MVP of the 1987 Warrior baseball team. The shortstop-pitcher, who was named All-State, batted for a .370 average with three homers. In pitching, Revenig was 6-1, allowing just one earned run in 47-2/3 innings for an ERA of 0.17.

Citing his rights under the Declaration of Independence, a Lake Hubert man directly challenged the county zoning authority's right to tell him what he can do with his land. Dana Tiede said, "I bought and paid for my property and I'll do as I darn well please with it."

Five Brainerd youths, all local Boy Scouts, left today on their trip to the National Boy Scout Jamboree at Valley Forge, Penn. The boys are Brian Peterson, 14; Jonny Doran, 14; Jack Hickerson, 13; Bob Pike, 15; and Mike Friedrich, 14. The Jamboree is June 12-18.

Realignment of the coaching staff at Washington High School is complete with the hiring of Ralph "Helmer" Engbretson, former U of Minn. basketball star, as basketball coach. Ben Taylor will coach football and track. The two replace the retiring Bill Dammann.

100 years ago (1917)

The honking of auto horns last night at the outdoor band concert caused considerable annoyance to the musicians. An excellent program was prepared for the audience, and drivers should decrease the noise from use of horns and muffler "cut-outs."
