Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office responded to three personal injury crashes held during the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) races held this weekend at Brainerd International Raceway (BIR), 5523 Birchdale Road, Brainerd.
All three incidents occurred Saturday.
The first crash was reported at 12:03 a.m., where a 49-year-old Elk River man crashed his all-terrain vehicle (ATV) while operating it on the BIR grounds. The man was transported by North Memorial Ambulance to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Upon being released from the hospital, he was then arrested for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated.
Another crash was reported at 12:52 a.m. Saturday, where a 28-year-old Canadian woman was run over by a vehicle after she fell off the hood. The woman, who admitted to being intoxicated, had minor injuries.
Later Saturday, at 9:12 p.m., a 57-year-old man from Jainsville, Wis., was attempting to hitch a ride by a "Party Wagon" trailer at BIR, when he fell under the trailer and was run over. Paul G. Botsford was transported to the Brainerd hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
