RAY, N.D. - Three teammates on the Ray High School boys basketball team were killed Monday when the pickup truck they were in skidded across the median of U.S. Highway 2 and was hit by a truck.

While the North Dakota Highway Patrol did not identify the teens, nor the 33-year-old driver of the truck, Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home in Williston identified two of the teens in the pickup truck as Tanner Shawn Garman, 18, of Ray, and Dalen Dennis Dorval, 17, of Epping.

The other victim was identified on social media and by the Tioga Tribune as Waylyn McRae, 17, of Ray.

The Highway Patrol report said the teens were in a 2007 Chevy Silverado headed west on Highway 2 in Williams County about 8:25 p.m. when the driver lost control and crossed the median into the path of the truck.

The truck was a 2000 Peterbilt. The driver, a 33-year-old man from Carson, was transported to Tioga Medical Center with minor injuries, the Highway Patrol said. His name was not released Tuesday.
