John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, was assassinated in Dallas on this day in 1963.
Kennedy died Nov. 22, 1963, after he was shot during a 10-mile motorcade in downtown Dallas. Three days later, there was a national day of mourning. The slain president was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery where an eternal flame continues to mark his grave.
