DEERWOOD — An 18-year-old Deerwood man was injured Monday, June 28, when a strap towing the truck he was in broke, causing the truck to strike an SUV.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash at 12:39 p.m. where a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling east on Crow Wing County Highway 12 approaching Nokay Lake Road. During the same time, a Dodge Ram was pulling a Ford F-250 with a tie-down strap north on Nokay Lake Road approaching the intersection. The tie-down strap broke and the Ford passed the Dodge and struck the Chevy in the intersection, the state patrol reported.
The Deerwood man, Timothy D. Blood — who was behind the wheel of the Ford with a seat belt on — suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.
The driver of the Dodge, John A. Blood, 44, Deerwood, and the driver of the Chevrolet, Melanie R. West, 41, Sauk Rapids, were not injured.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office and Deerwood police and fire departments assisted the state patrol at the scene.
