Tribal Police seize heroin and meth; mother arrested

ONAMIA--A 32-year-old mother was arrested this past weekend after drug enforcement agents executed a search warrant at her Onamia home and seized heroin and methamphetamines that were in plain view within the home.

ONAMIA-A 32-year-old mother was arrested this past weekend after drug enforcement agents executed a search warrant at her Onamia home and seized heroin and methamphetamines that were in plain view within the home.

The Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department, along with members of the East Central Drug Task Force and the Great Nations Gang and Drug Task Force, executed the search warrant at 10:15 p.m. Saturday on the 17000 block of Aninaatig Loop in Onamia.

During the search of the residence two juvenile females were located inside, Mille Lacs Tribal police stated in a press release. The homeowner and mother of the children, identified as Ricki Arlene Boswell, arrived to the residence shortly after officers executed the search warrant and was placed under arrest.

During the execution of the search warrant, multiple used and loaded hypodermic syringes were located; heroin and methamphetamines were in plain view within the home. Law enforcement officers seized more than 22 grams of heroin, 8 grams of methamphetamines and $2,800 in cash.

Boswell's children were immediately placed into protective custody through the Mille Lacs Band Family Services.

Boswell was charged with first and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of hypodermic syringes and drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine-related crimes involving children and vulnerable adults.

"Getting drugs out of our communities is a constant effort; we greatly appreciate the public's

help in identifying criminals and making our communities safer," Mille Lacs Band Tribal Police Chief Jared Rosati stated.

The Great Nations Gang and Drug Task Force is a collaborative effort by The Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department, Leech Lake Tribal Police Department, Upper Sioux Community Police Department and Lower Sioux Community Police Department to combat violent offenders and

drugs in our communities.
