Triple A Award nominations go to Pierz students
The award goes to high school seniors who have a “B” or better grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
PIERZ — Pierz High School seniors Ellie Fischer and Landon Schomer were selected to represent Pierz in the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award program for District 19.
Fischer is the daughter of Shawn and Beth Fischer and Schomer is the son of Howie and Kelly Schomer.
Established in 1988, the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award (Triple A Award) is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The award goes to high school seniors who have a “B” or better grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
Fischer has been involved in volleyball, dance, golf, choir, jazz choir, fall musical, spring play, One Act Play, speech, Minnesota Honor Society, knowledge bowl, peer helping, Where Everybody Belongs, yearbook and Spanish Club. Schomer has been involved in cross-country, basketball, track, choir, jazz choir, band, pit band, speech, knowledge bowl, Minnesota Honor Society, Business Professionals of America and peer helping.
Triple A Award recipients are selected through a multi-level process involving member schools of the League, the League’s administrative regions, and a special committee of educators, business leaders, and members from the fine arts and athletic communities.
The top two award finishers from each region are recognized in March and League officials will announce the four statewide Triple ‘A’ Award winners at that time.
