Truck strikes motorized scooter

Little Falls Police Department and Morrison County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the crash reported at 6:52 p.m.

LITTLE FALLS — A 64-year-old Brainerd woman was injured Thursday, Sept. 17, when a Ford truck struck the motorized scooter she was operating at the exit ramp of Highway 10 and 27 in Little Falls.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported Donald A. Handeland, 66, Cushing, was driving a Ford F-150 and attempting to make a right turn to go northbound on Highway 27 from Highway 10. During this time, a motorized scooter operated by Denise E. Smith was in the crosswalk and the two collided in the intersection.

Smith was transported with non-life-threatening injuries via North Memorial Health Ambulance to CHI St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls. Handeland was not injured.
