ST. JOSEPH – A smoky haze hung over St. Joseph Thursday as fire crews battled a turkey barn fire just north of town.
The fire, reported at 6:20 a.m., destroyed the 30-by-100-foot barn, according to St. Joseph Fire Chief Jeff Taufen. St. Joseph is just west of St. Cloud in central Minnesota.
There were no turkeys in the barn and no one was injured, Taufen said. He said the barn had been prepared for turkeys to arrive the next day.
The barn is owned by Pete Rothfork of Grey Eagle, Minn., according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.
