THIEF RIVER FALLS -Two people are being held in connection with an armed burglary lafter they hauled a safe out of a McDonald's Restaurant in Thief River Falls.

Brian Allen Torkelson, 24, and Justin Rick Hopper, 25, both of Thief River Falls, are accused of using a stolen vehicle on Dec. 10 to steal a 400-pound safe, which held an estimated $4,000 in cash, from the restaurant.

Shortly after 1 a.m., the two entered the restaurant through a drive-thru window, according to a police report. One of the suspects allegedly was armed with a sawed-off shotgun.

Employees had left the building shortly before the incident began, and no one was injured, police said.

The safe was loaded into a stolen 1999 Chevy Suburban, which was reported stolen from a nearby residence about four hours later.
