Brainerd resident Margo Fortune continues to fight for her life, despite being told almost 10 months ago by her doctor that she only had a few months to live.
Fortune was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013. Her first tumor was removed March 20, 2013. Margo, who also was told she has a rare muscular disease, had her second brain surgery in August of 2014. Her third and final surgery was done Jan. 20. Her doctor told her then she only had a few months to live.
Fortune and her husband, Bill, shared their story with Dispatch readers Jan. 30. They also have an open Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/margo.fortune.1?fref=ts documenting her progress to let the public know how she is doing.
Margo had an appointment Wednesday with her oncologist and will have a MRI on Nov. 27.
In an email from Bill, he said, "(Wednesday's appointment) went as expected. Labs, office visit and Avastin treatment which is the form of chemo she is taking. She did have another seizure on (Oct. 31) which I believe was the fourth she has had since her January surgery."

Fortune said the appointment with the MRI will let them know if there has been any progression in the last nine weeks.
On Sept. 24, Bill said "Margo has had some physical therapy and is getting a little stronger. We are both still fighting for her health to improve and that is great because we haven't got news that says it is time to throw in the towel. Best of all they gave her a few months to live Jan. 21 and it is more than eight months now and that is awesome.
"The future isn't clear we will count down the next three visits to the cancer center until we can get the next MRI and hope and pray for good news on that one."
