Family physician Shelley Overholt-Thiesen, M.D. will explain the benefits and risks of numerous types of old and new birth control. She will discuss permanent methods including vasectomy, tubal ligation and office tubal procedures. Non-permanent options to be explained include natural family planning, condoms and other barrier methods, birth control pills, the patch, ring, Depo-Provera, IUDs and implants. She will also discuss the Affordable Care Act, changes in Pap smear rules and the most recent research from the Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, Mo.
