Upsala man gets arm stuck in auger

FSA farm accident

UPSALA — An Upsala man had extensive injuries to his right arm in a farming incident Thursday, Sept. 3, and was airlifted to a Minneapolis hospital.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was called at 10:31 a.m. to a farming incident on 60th Avenue, 1 mile southeast of Upsala, in Elmdale Township. According to the sheriff’s office, 41-year-old Kenneth Wielenberg was unloading silage out of a silage box trailer. At one point the auger got clogged with silage. Wielenberg attempted to clear it when his right arm got caught in the auger, the sheriff’s office reported.

Wielenberg was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis by Life Link III. The Upsala Fire Department, Upsala First Response Team and Mayo Clinic Ambulance assisted at the scene.
