US foreign policy to be discussed

CROSBY--U.S. foreign policy will be the topic of discussion for the next Unlimited Learning event from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby.

CROSBY-U.S. foreign policy will be the topic of discussion for the next Unlimited Learning event from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby.

Tom Hanson, diplomat in residence at the University of Minnesota Duluth and former U.S. diplomat will explore and explain the latest foreign policy developments based on recent meetings with U.S. government foreign policy officials Secretary of State Rex Tillerson; Anthony Scaramucci, the White House communications director; and representatives of foreign nations. He will discuss trends and challenges facing the U.S. and potential impacts on the policies of the new administration.

Hanson served as diplomat in East Germany, France, Norway, the Soviet Union, Sweden and the former Soviet Republic of Georgia. He also participated in the opening of new U.S. embassies in Mongolia and Estonia.

Non-members are welcome to attend the talk for $5. A reception will follow the talk from 3:45-6 p.m. at the Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library or attendees who wish to continue the discussion with Hanson.
