Van collides with truck, injuring 2 unbelted passengers

Two unbelted passengers were injured when a Dodge Caravan crashed into a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the intersection of Highway 371 and 50th Street, south of Brainerd in Crow Wing Township.

Two unbelted passengers were injured when a Dodge Caravan crashed into a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the intersection of Highway 371 and 50th Street, south of Brainerd in Crow Wing Township.

The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash at 2:08 p.m. The Dodge Caravan was northbound on Highway 371 when it collided with the truck in the eastbound lane on 50th Street, the state patrol reported.

None of the occupants in the Silverado were wearing seat belts, according to the crash report.

The driver of the Silverado, Daniel E. Jillson, 35, Brainerd, and one of his three passengers-Alyssa T. Amundson, 21, Circle Pines-were not injured. The other two passengers-Gregory A. Huggett, 42, Brainerd, and Calie F. Schweninger, 18, Motley-suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.

The driver of the Dodge, Elaine C. Holmes, 82, and her 50-year-old passenger, Thomas A. Holmes, both of Brainerd, were not injured.

The airbags did not deploy in either vehicle.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office assisted the state patrol at the scene.
