BAXTER - Simonson Lumber moved from Brainerd to Baxter in August of 2013, sharing a building with Brock White, and now the company is planning to build a new warehouse on the property in Baxter.
Simonson Lumber asked the Baxter City Council for a variance to allow a 12,000-square-foot warehouse with a 1/12 roof pitch. The council approved the variance Tuesday.
Simonson currently has three existing metal warehouse/storage buildings and two of three buildings have the 1/12 roof pitch. The third building has a different roof pitch.
The company plans to construct an addition to the building for office space. It would be constructed onto the front, north end of the proposed warehouse.
Company business has increased since the move. The company is near the railroad spur so it is able to get inventory delivered straight to the site.
