A Brainerd man and woman were injured Friday, April 23, when their vehicle struck a bear in Daggett Brook Township south of Brainerd.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported 19-year-old Tyler Scott Peterson was driving his 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe north on Highway 25 year Ox Cart Trail when it struck a bear on the highway. The vehicle went off the road, struck a tree and overturned.
Peterson and his passenger, 20-year-old Cynthia Marie Thompson, were transported to Essentia Health in Brainerd for non-life-threatening injuries. Both were wearing seat belts, and road conditions were wet at the time of the crash, according to the state patrol.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial Ambulance assisted at the scene.
