Vehicle rolls several times, trapping and injuring teen

Vehicle came to a rest on its roof, trapping the 16-year-old driver inside with serious injuries.

ROYALTON -- A 16-year-old teen was injured Monday, July 1, when the vehicle she was driving rolled several times and came to rest on its roof in Morrison County.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office responded at 11:28 a.m. to a report of a one vehicle crash on 210th Avenue, near 63rd Street, 5 miles northeast of Royalton, in Bellevue Township.

According to the sheriff’s office, 16-year-old Alyssa Ratke of Royalton was traveling south on

210th Avenue when her vehicle left the roadway and hit a road approach. The vehicle rolled several times and came to rest on its roof with Ratke trapped inside. The Royalton Fire Department assisted in getting Ratke out of the vehicle. She was transported by Life Link III to Hennepin County Medical Center with serious injuries. A spokesperson for HCMC stated Ratke was in satisfactory condition Tuesday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Royalton Fire Department, Royalton First Response and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
