VFW announces essay competition winners

Taking first place in the Brainerd Veterans of Foreign Wars Patriot’s Pen essay competition was Jagger Klecatsky, a seventh grader at Forestview Middle School.

Klecatsky received a check for $300. Jameson Dale, an eighth grader at St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic School, was second place, receiving $200. Paul Sandberg, an eighth grader at Forestview Middle School, took third for $100.

Johnathan Berry, a senior at Brainerd High School, was the first prize winner in the Brainerd VFW Voice of Democracy competition. He received $300 and went on to win third place at the district level in Minnesota.

Keenan Hodge, also a senior, won second place, receiving $200.
