The man who suffered burns in Wednesday's fire in Barrows was in serious condition Friday afternoon, Nov. 30, at a Minneapolis hospital.

The Brainerd Fire Department released the name of the injured man as 42-year-old Trevor Grundmeier. Grundmeier was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd by a private party and later airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis to be treated for his burns.

Authorities were called to the fully involved garage fire at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday on the 10000 block of Depot Street, just off Business Highway 371 south of Brainerd. Grundmeier rents the Barrows home on Depot Street.

The fire was reported by a neighbor, according to the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office, who witnessed smoke billowing from the garage. The neighbor approached the garage and noticed flames inside, along with the injured man, and called 911.

Brainerd Fire Chief Tim Holmes said the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting the fire department on determining the cause of a fire that destroyed a garage. As of Friday, the cause of the fire was not determined.
