The Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts chose the Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District as one to highlight statewide this summer.
The Agate Lake Property Owner's Association worked recently to reduce runoff, and the efforts were showcased in a YouTube video.
"We partnered with the Crow Wing SWCD, Backyard Greenhouse and Hayland Woods Native Nursery," said Richard Coccie, president of the association, in a news release.
The partnership's goals: plant 8,525 plants, create seven rain gardens, stabilize and plant three berms, 10 landowners purchasing plants through an instant rebate program, three planting workshops with over 60 volunteers from the association and Crosby Boy Scout Troop 100.
"This is a great project. This showcase Clean Water Funds coming back to the local community to assist landowners in conservation," said Beth Hippert, district technician, in the release.
