A recent graduate of the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service is joining WeARE Advocates for Reproductive Education for eight weeks this summer as a volunteer.
Heather Rossi of Columbia, S.C., will focus on developing a comprehensive volunteer program, including development of volunteer policies, procedures, training and recruitment. She starts this month.
Rossi's work will help WeARE achieve its vision for a well-trained clinic volunteer staff for the The Clinic opening in October, according to a news release.
Rossi is a 2014 graduate of Wofford College and is pursuing a career in public service. Rossi served as an AmeriCorps member with South Carolina Campus Compact at the University of South Carolina Upstate. Her research at the Clinton School focused on public health which included food security and water, sanitation and hygiene.
WeARE currently provides reproductive health education and advocacy in the Brainerd lakes area. The clinic opening this fall will offer services including education, birth control and testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections for underserved teens and young adults.
