Erin Wagner, a science teacher from Aitkin, will challenge incumbent Rep. Dale Lueck, R-Aitkin, for the Minnesota House of Representatives District 10B seat.
In a news release, Wagner, who was endorsed by the DFL, said she is running to bring issues from within the schools and community to the state Capitol.
"Aitkin and Crow Wing counties are great places to live, work and raise a family," Wagner stated in the release. "However the issues important to our community aren't being addressed at the state Capitol as often as they could be. I want to help solve problems on issues important to our community like better schools, keeping our natural resources pristine and recreationally available, and strengthening our economy."
As a science teacher, education and conservation are Wagner's top priorities, the release stated.
"Education is a strong component of our long-term success as a community, because good schools and quality education pave the way for good jobs and economic success," Wagner stated in the release. "We cannot let Minnesota fall from its high-level education status."

Wagner added: "Our economy has improved, but could still improve more, so that people aren't feeling the affects of the recession still. We need to work together so that our economy is one that works for everyone."
Erin Wagner is married to Derek Wagner, a Minnesota Department of Natural Resources forester. Together the couple has an 18-month old daughter, Irene. Irene is the sixth generation of Wagner born and raised in the area and is part of why Wagner wants to ensure a bright future for the area, the release stated.
Erin Wagner stated she looks forward to talking to people in the area over the coming months.
"I plan on working hard to earn the trust and support of the citizens in this region," stated Wagner in the release. "I look forward to visiting with you soon about the challenges facing our state and how we can work together to make sure we have a future we want."
