The Alzheimer's Association invites lakes area residents to unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. The lakes area walk is planned for Sept. 27 on the Paul Bunyan Trail. Registration and kick-off activities start at the Northland Arboretum at 9 a.m.

Teams are now being organized to raise funds and awareness. Interested persons may start or join a team at alz.org/walk.

"There has never been a greater need for Brainerd neighbors to join in the fight against Alzheimer's disease by participating in Walk to End Alzheimer's," said Brenda Conley, an Alzheimer's Association community engagement manager. "Funds raised will provide care and support services to people in our Northern Minnesota Region. Funds raised through the walk make possible:

• More than 15 support groups throughout the northern Minnesota region, offering a safe and confidential place in which support, ideas and education are shared.

• A 24-hour Information Helpline, providing referrals and information to more than 400 callers monthly (800-272-3900).

• Ongoing training for care providers.
