WALKER — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday, Sept. 11, in Walker.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported two vehicles were traveling northbound on Highway 371 at Ah Gwah Ching Road Northwest, a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 29-year-old Samuel James Kingbird of Ponemah, and a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 19-year-old Tyler Allen Dirks of Roseau. The Silverado yielded for eastbound traffic when it was struck from behind by the Trailblazer just before 11:30 a.m.

Kingbird and his passenger, 29-year-old Travis Simon Dow of Ponemah, were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids for non-life-threatening injuries. Dirks and his two passengers, all of whom were wearing seat belts, were uninjured.

Neither Kingbird nor Dow were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was a factor on the part of Kingbird, according to the state patrol.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial Health Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
