WALKER — A 36-year-old Walker man died as the result of a head-on crash Monday morning, June 29.
The Minnesota State Patrol received the report of the crash 7:39 a.m. in Lakeport Township in Hubbard County, just west of the Hubbard-Cass county line. David Sidney Weimer died as the result of injuries suffered when the 2005 Hyundai Elantra he drove was struck head-on by a GMC Yukon, driven by Ryan Henry Schlichting, 19, of Dilworth. Schlichtling was traveling northwest on County Road 38 when he drifted over the centerline, striking the Elantra near the intersection with County Road 39.
The road was dry at the time of the crash, according to the state patrol, and both drivers wore seat belts. Schlichtling suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Essentia Health-Fargo for treatment.
Also responding to the crash were the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Lakeport First Responders and North Memorial Health emergency medical services.
