Severe weather passed through the Brainerd lakes area Thursday evening, Sept. 16, bringing the potential for tornadoes, hail and strong winds.

A tornado warning was issued shortly before 6 p.m. for Brainerd and surrounding communities, with rain, hail and lightning following shortly after. Dime-sized hail fell in Brainerd, while reports of hail as large as tennis balls originated from the Little Falls area.

A wall cloud over Little Falls also created quite the spectacle as people stopped to observe and take photos. Twitter user @SotaStormChaser shared video of a funnel that nearly reached the ground near Lastrup.
