Listing the DASH Diet as one people should consider for heart health, WebMD states it can help lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
The acronym DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, or high blood pressure. It cuts salt, puts an emphasis on vegetables and getting enough potassium (bananas anyone?), incorporates yogurt, prioritizes lean meats and fish, advocates cutting back on fats and oils, aims for an intake of about 2,000 calories per day.
"Even if you don't have high blood pressure, the DASH Diet is worth a look," WebMD stated. "It may help you lose weight because it's a healthier way of eating. You won't feel deprived. You'll have lots of vegetables, fruits, and low-fat dairy products while cutting back on fats, cholesterol, and sweets."
