Motorists driving through Rice will find unimpeded travel on the new westbound Highway 10 bridge spanning County Road 2, which opened at 7:40 a.m. Friday.

All permanent lanes and ramps of westbound Highway 10 in Rice are also now open.

Motorists on eastbound Highway 10 will continue to encounter narrow, temporary bypass lanes and temporary signals at County Road 2 and County Road 31/N Division Street until Oct. 25.

Height restriction underway on County Road 2.

Farmers, freight haulers and heavy equipment operators with high loads should be aware that County Road 2 beneath the new bridge has a temporary over-height limit of 15 feet until Oct. 25.

The new bridge, lanes and temporary height restriction are part of the Highway 10/County Road 2 interchange project. When complete later this year, the project will increase safety and mobility by replacing the current signalized intersection with a full interchange, create flow-through traffic for all four lanes of Highway 10 through Rice, extend acceleration lanes and improve local roads and utilities.

MnDOT, the city of Rice and Benton County worked together to develop the safest and most cost effective project for the public.
